Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk nilai moral yang terkandung dalam cerita rakyat Papua Barat karya Hengki Mofu dan Insum Malawat, mengetahui fungsi nilai moral dalam cerita rakyat Papua Barat bagi pembaca dan pemanfaatannya sebagai bahan ajar di SMA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif, dengan data penelitian, yaitu nilai-nilai moral yang ada dalam cerita rakyat Papua Barat, yang didapat melalui teknik baca dan catat. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu, sember data sekunder yang berasal dari buku cerita rakyat Papua Barat di dalanya terdapat tiga cerita “Puteri Yambin, Burung Beo dari Lembah Kebar, Kucing dan Burung Gagak” yang terangkum dalam buku cerita rakyat Papua Barat. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah (1) Bentuk nilai moral terkait hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan yaitu bersyukur kepada Tuhan dan berdoa kepada Tuhan. (2) Nilai moral terkait hubungan manusia dengan manusia lain yaitu nilai menghormati, gotong royong, berterima kasih, kasih sayang, saling memaafkan, empati, meminta maaf. (3) Nilai moral terkait hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri yaitu kerja keras, sabar, murah hati. Fungsi nilai moral dalam cerita rakyat Papua Barat ini yaitu fungsi rekreatif, fungsi didaktif, fungsi moralitas, dan fungsi religiusf.
